Find the right company before the right date
If you have more than one LLC, begin with the exact legal name and state record number. Then check each state where that entity is registered. A second registration can bring a second reporting obligation.
The SBA treats ongoing state filings as requirements that depend on your structure and location. That is why a friend's April deadline is useful conversation, but a poor calendar source. (SBA: manage your business)
Three states, three different calendars
These are standard LLC rules, checked against the linked state sources. Professional, series and other special cases may differ. Use the state-specific guide for the filing route and exceptions. (North Carolina Secretary of State: annual reports; Florida Sunbiz: annual report filing and fees; Illinois Secretary of State: domestic LLC guide; Illinois Form LLC-50.1: annual report)
| State | Ordinary due date | Standard filing fee | If late |
|---|---|---|---|
| North Carolina | April 15, beginning the year after formation | $200 paper; SOS lists $203 online | Notice and correction process before dissolution |
| Florida | May 1; filing opens January 1 | $138.75 | $400 late fee after May 1 |
| Illinois | Before the first day of the anniversary month | $75; series fees may apply | $100 penalty if not filed within 60 days after due date |
An unchanged address still needs a filed report
Florida requires a report even when nothing changed, and its annual report is not a financial statement. Think of it as confirming who and where the company is, rather than reporting how well the year went. (Florida Sunbiz: annual report filing and fees)
Compare the form with your actual business today. Did you move? Replace a manager? Change the registered agent? Read the state's instructions for each change: some can go on the annual report, while others need a separate filing. (Illinois Form LLC-50.1: annual report)
Late fees and dissolution are different events
Missing a deadline can start a sequence: a penalty, a notice, then loss of active status if the default is not fixed. The sequence differs by state. North Carolina uses a mailed notice and a 60-day correction period; Illinois ties its report-default correction period to the delinquency notice. Read an actual notice promptly instead of counting from a date borrowed from another state. (North Carolina G.S. 57D-6-06: administrative dissolution; Illinois 805 ILCS 180/35-30: dissolution procedure)
If your entity is already dissolved, start with the state's reinstatement instructions. Checking a box in your planner cannot restore its status.
Finish with something you can find next year
Save the processed report or confirmation with the entity name and report year. A receipt labeled 'LLC stuff' will be much less charming twelve months from now.
Keep a preparation date and a submission deadline in your calendar. In BizzyBot you can put the official link, fee and responsible person with the event, then check off that year's occurrence after filing. You still submit through the state; ordinary deadline events do not send email or text reminders.

Questions & answers
Is an LLC annual report a tax return?
The state business-record report described here is separate from an income-tax return. Other recurring taxes and filings may also apply; do not treat the report fee as the whole tax bill.
Do single-member LLCs file annual reports?
If the state requires a report for that kind of LLC, having one owner does not generally remove the requirement. Check the entity type and any state exception.
Can I file early?
Use your state's filing window. Florida opens annual reporting on January 1; other states use different windows.
What if no reminder arrived?
Check the official record and deadline anyway. Keep the registered-agent and mailing information current, and save any notices with the filing record.
Does BizzyBot file the report?
No. It holds the dates and notes you enter. You or your chosen professional files with the state and keeps the confirmation.

What's the difference between owners, teammates and light users?
Owner: $12/month. The person who runs the business workspace, manages billing and decides who gets access.
Teammates: $6 per person, per month. They create or change projects, tasks, schedules and events, and use the calendars. Their permissions decide what they can change.
Light users: $0 per person, per month. They can view schedules and the jobs they're assigned to in the owner's workspace. People who edit that work need a teammate seat.
